Have you any Wool?

Today, I set about finishing a knitting project that I started early in the new year.  It was to be a scarf for my beloved but the project was halted in mid January, by a shortage of yarn.  Who knew a scarf needed so much wool?  Having had a pause of several weeks, the mild weather today made me think I must finish it so he has a chance to try it out at least once before Spring.

Returning to the site where I bought the yarn, I found it sold out and alas! discontinued.  Searching wildly across the net for the best part of this morning, I realised, I may have bought the last balls back in December.  I guess it is a fundamental novice knitters error to begin a project without checking that there is enough yarn to complete it. Unfortunately, I seldom follow recipes in cooking and to date have completed several knitting projects without ever sticking to a pattern.   Blissfully naive, I had imagined that all would be well.

So, an unforeseen regeneration project emerges.  Husband's scarf will be ripped back and restitched either into a snood or a skinny scarf.  I think, by the time it gets finished, in late spring, the latter will be more useful.
